Cataract is the clouding of the natural lens inside the eye. As the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, it does not allow light to pass through it as well as it did when it was transparent. The natural lens is made of a strong, transparent outer covering or capsule filled with a clear gel material. When the gel starts to become cloudy, the incoming light rays are distorted or blocked before reaching the retina at the back of the eye. As the cataract develops, it becomes harder for a person to see.

Glaucoma is a condition in which the normal fluid pressure inside the eyes slowly rises as a result of the fluid aqueous humor not being able to drain properly. Instead, the fluid collects and the pressure builds up in the eye and may ultimately damage the optic nerve and loss of vision. If left untreated, an elevated IOP (Intra Ocular Pressure) causes irreversible damage to the optic nerve and retinal fibers resulting in a progressive, permanent loss of vision. However, early detection and treatment can slow, or even halt the progression of the disease.
