Tetrology of Fallot

Symptoms
Symptoms are variable and depend on the size of VSD and pulmonary stenosis. Cyanosis may at first be observed only with exertion and crying after few years cyanosis even at rest, clubbing of the finger and toes. Squatting (a posture characteristically assumed by the children with this defect once they have reached the walking stage) Growth failure, dyspnea on exertion.
 
Treatment
  • Palliative anastomosis between the right or left subclavian artery (arising at the arch of aorta) and the right pulmonary artery. Systemic to pulmonary shunting
  • Total correction with Cardiopulmonary Bypass (Open Heart Surgery).
 
Transposition of Great Vessels
Symptoms
Cyanosis usually develops shortly after birth, fatigue, slow weight gain, clubbing of fingers and toes and heart failure may co-exist.
 
Uni Ventrical Heart
Treatment
Palliative and complete surgical correction.
