This August, our company joined hands with Harvard Medical International (HMI) to provide training to healthcare professionals and counsellors in lndia. A non-government organisation (NGO), WHARF, is being registered as the first s to achieve this objective. WHARF is the acronym for Wockhardt-HMI HIV/AIDS Education and Research Foundation.
"Our objective is to scale up training" of healthcare providers on the use of global standards for HIV/AIDS in management to work with them on overcoming attitudinal and economic barriers to providing quality care," said Dr. Harvey Makac Director of Health Systems, HMI.
Habil Khorakiwala said that WHARF's goal was to empower care providers in their efforts to control the HIV/AIDS epidemic India., The course contents will include clinical care, prevention, infection control, diagnostics and the social psychological dimensions. WHARFwill invite international faculty to deliver training. Participants will be practicing clinicic nurses and paramedical staff as well as counsellors. The first programme will be held towards the end of this year.
