"Nosocomial infection is the most dreaded phenomenon in any medical organisation. It is a possibility we have to live with. But with proper monitoring, correct operating procedures and continuous interaction and sharing of experiences on a common platform, we can eradicate this menace to a great extent. With this in mind, we, at Wockhardt Hospitals, have planned this workshop," said Dr. Rupali Basu, General Manager, in her welcome address at the workshop.
The workshop, the first of its kind in eastern India, was attended in large numbers by microbiologists, surgeons, nursing and para medical staff of various hospitals and medical institutes in eastern India.
Sessions were delivered by Dr. Geeta Mehta, Vice-President and Dr. Madhu Chaudhury, Secretary of the Hospital InfeCtion Society of India. Wockhardt's senior surgeons like Dr. Shivaji Basu, and Dr. Arup Ratan Dutta, also addressed the gathering.
