Every patient that walks into any of our hospitals will now be made aware of his/her rights as a patient, thanks to a first-of-its-kind rights charter.
Justice N Venkatachala, who launched the charter in Bangalore, lauded Wockhardt Hospitals for taking a significant step in pioneering patient rights in India. 'This charter can serve as a model for other hospitals in the country."
Vishal Bali, Vice-President - Operations, Wockhardt Hospitals, explains, 'The charter reinforces the right of a strong relationship between patients and their healthcare providers, and encourages them to take an active role in managing their health." Through the charter, patients will be made aware of their rights to receive the best care, to be treated respectfully, to privacy, to select a doctor, and also the right of the family to inform the hospital if there is something wrong with the treatment. The charter, which is given to the patient in the form of a handbook, provides useful information about admission to the hospital, services and facilities, medical care available to the patients, amenities and special services (such as ambulance service, feedback, etc.), visitor information and billing.
