Wockhardt Hospitals, Mumbai launched its 'Pediatric & Congenital Heart
Center' - a venture to provide quality healthcare to infants & children
with heart disease in Mumbai and in fact the whole of western and central
India. It is the first hospital in the city to have the right mix of
multi-specialty care, state-of-art infrastructure and a dedicated team of
trained congenital pediatric heart surgeons, pediatric cardiologists,
pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, intensivists & nursing staff.
Dr. Ravindra Karanjekar, G.M. & Head, Wockhardt Hospitals said,
"Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are the most common birth defects and yet
are often overlooked. The resources and infrastructure required to manage
them are appallingly limited in India. Based on the number of children
with congenital heart defects, the need of the hour is around 200
pediatric cardiac centers in India, but only few centers are available.
Mumbai, despite being the commercial capital of India sadly lacks a
dedicated center. People from across the country come to this city to make
a living yet most children with heart defects have to be sent out to get
even the simplest of treatments. This is where the Wockhardt Pediatric and
Congenital Heart Center is going to make a difference."
Commenting on the medical team, Dr. Ravindra Karanjekar, added, "Wockhardt
Pediatric & Congenital Heart Center has one of the best team of experts
available at its service full time. Dr. Snehal Kulkarni, Dr. Swati Garekar
and Dr. Zakia Khan are our very eminently qualified pediatric
cardiologists providing the entire gamut of interventional and non
interventional pediatric cardiac care. Dr. Suresh Joshi is our vastly
experienced pediatric cardiac surgeon. We also have expert pediatric
cardiac anesthesiologists & intensivists in Dr. Sachin Patil & Dr.
Prasanna Salvi." 'Together with the latest technical support and advanced
infrastructure available at the center, this team can tackle any
congenital heart defect, with world class results.'
He further adds, "Over the next some months our team will fan out into the
community in Mumbai and the interior of Maharashtra in order to spread
awareness about congenital heart defects. Our team has a simple message
for the public: early diagnosis and early necessary intervention for
children with congenital heart defects makes them healthier'.
Post this announcement, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mulund will be conducting a
heart consultation week from February 7 - 14 for children suffering from
heart diseases. This coincides with the world wide celebration of the
congenital heart defect awareness week.
Wockhardt Hospitals constantly strives to understand the needs of the
patients and bring state of the art health care technology to India.
Through the Pediatric & Congenital Heart Center Wockhardt aims to start a
revolution in the Indian heath care field and draw attention to the
children who are poised to become the future of modern India.
