Dedicated Spine Centre set up at Wockhardt Hospitals

At a press conference held in Mumbai to announce the launch of Wockhardt Spine Center: From left are Vishal Bali, Dr. Harvey Makadon, Dr. Gautam Zaveri, Dr. Ram Chaddha & Dr. Anant Kamat.

In keeping with its commitment to quality healthcare in India, Wockhardt Hospitals has launched a state-of-the-art Spine Centre at Mulund, Mumbai. The centre is an initiative of the Wockhardt Brain & Spine Hospital.

The uniqueness of this centre is its multidisciplinary approach where orthopaedic and neurosurgeons have come together to provide comprehensive care to patients.

The launch was announced at a press conference held on June 30. Sharing details about the centre's services and technology were Wockhardt Hospitals' eminent spine specialists Dr. Ram Chaddha and Dr. Gautam Zaveri, Consultant Spine Surgeons, and Dr. Anant Kamat, Consultant Neuro & Spine Surgeon.

The centre is also geared to undertake the latest advances in surgery that have been carried out at leading international spine centres. These are cervical disc replacement and the use of expandable devices for lumbar spine fusion, the latest technique in spine care. Another technique called minimally invasive cosmetic spine surgery (MICOSS) is specifically meant to treat spine deformities. Dr. Gautam Zaveri informs, "With the help of such services, especially minimally invasive spine surgery, the recovery of a patient is reduced to as less than 24 hours."

Dr. Ram Chaddha says, "Ninety per cent of back and spinal problems are non-surgical if properly diagnosed in time. Through the centre, we want to encourage people to look at their spinal problems in a preventive manner."
