Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Employees Screened for Cardiac Diseases
Indian Red Cross Society Day was celebrated in a unique manner in the city with Wockhardt Hospitals, today conducting an Exclusive Cardiac Screening Camp at the Chitguppi Municipal Corporation Hospital for employees of Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) and their dependants. The free cardiac checkup camp was conducted by a large team of medical experts from Wockhardt Hospitals in association with HDMC.
The camp, which was inaugurated by Mr. P Manivannan IAS, Commissioner, HDMC and Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, screened more than 500 HDMC employees and their family members for problems related to the heart and heart disease.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Manivannan said, "The mission of the Indian Red Cross is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace. We appreciate the initiative that Wockhardt Hospitals has taken to make this camp possible which has allowed us, in keeping with our mission, to reach out to the members of our corporation and their families"
Senior Cardiologist from Wockhardt Hospital Dr. G. Sridhara expressed the need for increased awareness at the grassroots level about the causes of heart diseases and how it can be avoided.
In a comment, Vishal Bali, Chief Executive, Wockhardt Hospitals Group said, "This is an organized effort to combat heart disease. Creating awareness camps such as these is as critical as curing the disease itself. Through such programmes we hope to make a difference in the lives of these people."
